The next stop, Mazatlan. We pulled into the Puento Cerritos RV park in Mazatlan.  There were a lot of RV’s there, and some of them had palappas extended from them. A lot of them lived there year round. It seemed to be the hub for the small boardwalk that had some restaurants and some small stores that led down to the water. Down on the beach was what you might expect if there was  a pier…..just no pier!!! There was also a massage shop….more like a sweat shop for the girls, as they were only paid 70.00 per week, working full days .(plus tips) They charged 20.00 for a 1.5 hour massage. I got a Pedi for 15.00 dollars American. (We ended up going back there for a massage as well.)

We stayed for 2 nights, re-arranging the stuff in the RV and preparing to go to the timeshare at El Cid, which by this time we were really ready for!!!

So, off we go to the El Cid condo. We arranged it so that we would be one day ahead of the kids and one day after for a bit of space.

The condo (presidential suite) was awesome, with 2 full suites and three full bathrooms, one of which had a big tub that over-looked the ocean, separate living room and full kitchen, and a lovely balcony that over-looked the pool and ocean. Our suite had its own living room that over-looked the pool and ocean too, and it was great to be at El Cid. It’s nice that the kids have their own suite as well! Owen brought me here when we first got together, and we have made El Cid our yearly anniversary vacation destination ever since. It was Allie’s spring break, and she had brought her friend, soon to be roommate, Jessie, and a they had a blast! Lots of other kids come from all over the place to party for spring break.

The pools at El Cid are great.  This is a view from the balcony.

We spent 9 nights and 10 gloriouss days there, eating the cuisine off of the streets…cheap tacos and civiche to die for!!! So yummy. Oysters on the half shell right on the beach. Definitely some of the best oysters that I have ever had! Including a few cervesas and Pina Coladas.  We did lots of walking through town daily, and walks on the beach. Allie is quite the speed walker! It was really great to see Allie again. She’s doing great! Getting A’s in school, and looking awesome. She’s a real cutie-pie! She is also very compassionate. She looks just like her dad!

Allie and Jessie just getting in, so we had lunch and yummy pina coladas!!

It was also Allie’s birthday on St. Patrick’s Day, and she wanted to go fishing…and so we did! Allie ended up catching a small yellow fin tuna, and Owen caught a red snapper!

Fishing was lots of fun, and I was very grateful that they had caught some fish!! Into the freezer it goes! :)

We got up at 6am, and we were out on the water about 7am. It was foggy, and a bit chilly. Allie and Jessie huddled up in some towels, and Owen put his arms around me to help keep me warm. We started off with some trolling, and then did some bottom fishing. I know that there were fish, because they kept eating our bate!

We had a blast anyways! Later on the way home, which is when allie caught the yellow tail, she also ended up hooking onto a pelican!

The captain was great with his crew of one, and he spent all day with for a half of a days rate.

Here fishy fishy!!

We got back to the condo and got ready to go out to dinner for allies birthday. She wanted to see the sunset while eating dinner, and had scoped out a place earlier in the day just a ways down the beach.

Here is a pic of Allie and her dad Owen at her sunset birthday dinner. Jessie and Allie ordered a really yummy shrimp PooPoo platter. I had the Mahi…owen had carne.

The sun set down into the ocean, with the kids having a great time taking pictures. I caught a pretty good one of them jumping. Allie really likes to take a lot of pics! and I enjoyed taking them!!!

Yippeee! Its my birthday!

When the sun goes down, believe it or not it gets a tad chilly! I love watching the sun sink into the ocean, and the colors afterwards are awesome!

We decided to go to Old Mazatlan, to the downtown square. We visited a beautiful cathedral, and did some shopping.  On the way there we stopped and watched some cliff diving.

He was a young guy….he waited for the right wave and just missed the wall!

We also stopped for lunch on the beach. Its really fun to be right on the beach!!! Whatever it is that you are doing!

Sometimes your not exactly sure what your getting to eat!

Our days were winding down here at El Cid, and we were starting to plan for our next part of the journey. We went into town and had a lovely man do our laundry at a lavenderia (which is totally awesome for someone to do your laundry!) everything was folded expertly, even the underwear!

We took the jeep to get washed at a local car wash, which was done by hand. George did a superb job on the jeep! It really needed it badly!

The last day that Allie and Jessie were with us we went out to her favorite breakfast place down on the beach. The Balboa Beach Club. Here is a shot of us after breakfast sitting on the wall behind our table. They had the best grapefruit juice I have ever had. It was fresh squeezed!

And the food was delicious too!

And, so its the last day, and with a dive off of the cliffs at the pool, and a few laps to try to work off the 10lbs or so I have put on, (yikes!) I wave goodbye squinting into the aftenoon sun.  Bye-bye El Cid!

So, off we go to stay on schedule for Mazatlan. The roads have lots of holes in them, so I am busy looking right in front of me practically while I’m driving, and Owen is deciphering the signs, being a great navigator, and doing the math as I get use to Kilometers for miles and speed. There are a lot of trucks on the road. The big rigs really push me around as they wiz by. I like to drive. Owen and I make a good team.

So, I guess it’s about 6 hours of driving or so. We are on interstate 15…the new toll road.  Very funny! I can only imagine other roads at this point! And, I am soon to find out, as we turn off towards Las Glorias driving down past the farms and down to the beach. It was very slow going. But in divine order indeed!  On our route there were women out selling tomatoes. We stopped of course, and bought a big bag of them for 90 cents. They were Delicious!

When we got to Mr. Moro, there was only one other RV there! So, we parked close to the ocean in a prime spot! How lucky! We met the guy in the other RV, his name was Rod from Indiana.  He was on his own, and traveled on vacation to Mexico every year. We both ended up staying for two days. Owen went to chat with him, and found out he was a naturist! (likes to run around nude)Like us!

So, that was great! And there was nobody there except a few workers. We had dinner with Rod the both nights we were there. They served a pretty good dinner there too!Lots of fish (pescada) and shrimp (camerones).  Yummy!

We had a great night sleep that first night, and got up with intentions of washing Bertha. She needed it badly.

And so we did. Naked. It was great! Our first day of real sunshine. We both got a bit burned!…especially the back side ….owens was a tad worse I think! But it was great to have Bertha all clean!! And, then for a swim in the pool. AHHHH! How refreshing!

Another good nights sleep, and we were off on the journey the next morning.

We woke up early and wanted to get over the boarder around 6am when it opened. I think we rolled through about 6:30am without any problems. There was no line. An officer came in and looked around, and then left. I, being the driver, got to talk to the gate guy answering all the questions. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t matter much what you bring into Mexico….aside from certain fruits and veggies, I don’t think they care much. And certain seeds. Although, leaving Mexico would probably prove to be very different indeed.

As soon as you cross, there are beggars. I gave a banana to one who was asking for money saying he was hungry. A good rule going through boarder towns is don’t stop! And, don’t drive at night.

Wow! We are actually in Mexico. We crossed over the Boarder on the American side. Now, it’s down to Kilometer 21, which is the Mexican Boarder, where you show your paperwork, and get your tourist visas.  Again, there was no one in line but us! They did not even check the RV….just waved us through, smiling. I think it puts them off a bit to see a chick driving the RV. Which is good! I just smile and say Hola or Buenos Dias and onward we go.

Our next stop is down on the coast for our first night in Mexico, It’s a small beach town called San Carlos. We stayed at the Totonaka RV park. It was nice, and the owner spoke great English as he was from Canada. In fact, most everyone staying there was from Canada! A lot of them had been there for several months.  I met a woman named Adele. She was very nice, from Montana  on her own, with 4 cats and one dog. Her other dog had just passed away. I gave her a big hug. Adele told us the next day that there had been shootings in Guasave, which was our next destination. Aparently one of the drug lord people got arrested for being drunk. The durggies friends attacked the police to get him out…ended up killing him and 5 police officers and many more injured. It seems that they only fight with themselves and the police. The catch here for tourists is don’t get caught in the middle! We do not have fear here at all. We hold our intentions clearly, and, don’t drive at night. They are not interested in us.

We ended up staying two nights there so Owen could catch up on some work. The Beach was rocky…not much good for lying out. But, it sure was good to stop!!! And rest up a bit. We had a good drive ahead of us, about 5-6 hours, as our next stop would be at Mr. Moro Hotel and RV Resort Las Glorias, Guasave, Sinaloa.

March 2, 2011

We decided to leave in March because Owen has a timeshare at El Cid in Mazataln, and we decided to make it a pit stop and vacation with his daughter Allie (who is a sophomore in college) for spring break. So, we are flying Allie down and will meet her there on the 12th.

With me at the wheel, and Owen navigating, we headed out of Glenwood Springs, Colorado down to Southern California to see both of my sisters, Pam and Nansea, and her husband (and my bro) Eric.  It was the first time in 15 years that we were all in the same room together! It was really great to see and spend time with both of them. Also, my nieces Katie and Cara. I can’t believe that Katie has just graduated from college! You go girl! So, if anyone out there needs a photographer/archeologist, just let me know!

I also got to see one of my best friends Chrissy! She is still crazy as ever, and it was so good to see her! She is always herself, and I love her for that!!!  We all had a good time together eating and laughing. We spent the night in front of Pam, Rick and Cara’s house. Had a great breakfast and got to get Pam a really cool blouse for her birthday.

And, with me behind the wheel, off we go to the Nogalas Boarder in Arizona. We pulled over when it started to get dark. It was actually before our rv park we were looking for, but we were exhausted, so the empty lot looked great to us. Only one other Semi Trucker was parked there. That’s the great thing about living in the RV. You can do it anywhere!

Leaving Glenwood Springs

Well, I have got to say that it was quite the whirlwind packing up and leaving for our Mexico Vacation in our 34 foot RV pulling the Jeep in a matter 90 days. What a short period of time for ones entire life to shift and change. It required a lot of letting go!! We can have so very many attachments! More than once I wondered what I was doing! What was I doing? Leaving my busy energy medicine practice, friends, ski patrol, rafting ..etc….YIKES! But, I knew this was my path. It was the right time to take off for awhile. Everything that I tried to do to stay was being thwarted.  Thank goodness for my friend Heather, who really made it possible for me  to get out of the house. (She knows!) Thanks  babe!

So, I let go, and away went!

I had been sensing that I will be bringing in much light to Mexico. I also have had feelings and information come in that I will be meeting some kind of Indian Healer. I plan on teaching energy medicine techniques to other therapists, and I am already  doing distance healing work, and I will continue to teach energy medicine classes through the lovely system called Skype So, get on skype if your not on it yet. It’s free! My Skype name is Catherine Laura Morgan, so look me up!!

I am open to the experience of this adventure, as I have always been adventurous! There are many new things on the horizon!
